OK, I'm hoping for objective answers. All my life I've been quite an irreverent guy, with attitude, not earnest and kind of dismissive about religion. I thought tonight that what scares me about godliness, holiness, earnestness is that it's closer to my own psyche than I believe(Like the homophobe that senses attraction to their own sex) I walked out tonight and felt something above. I lay down when I got back and felt at peace, like I want to let god in. I imagined having partner who was god loving and the peace it'd bring us. At the same time, I began to feel for the first time I could justify aspects of organised religion. I'm not sure whether I subscribe to organised religion because some is dangerous. I'm unnerved that I feel this need to submit to relieve anxieties. I even began to contemplate that homosexuality is wrong, because of intstinctive relgious reasons, something I would never have contemplated. I'm scared of what I could become be it a homophobe, pious holy righteous whatever. But it's like my objective mind is in aa tussle with my base nature. Which one do I value? Do I allow this feeling to override me and for peace to take over, or do I stay edgy, trying to express myself creatively, on edge and not at peace but not self-satisfied. The belief in a god or guiding force may also guide me into some aspects of organsied religion which are wrong, that worries me. But I've started to think about how to be godly, even without organised religion, like becoming more gentle, humble on this earth in the face of god, less attitude less abrasive more respectful, pious, holy even. I'm really confused. I think it may cause me, this feeling of submission to god, to lose my intellectual faculties. Before this I had had some submissive fantasies about women so maybe I was seeking something. Can you give a very confused guy some advice? more

Voting Question: I have a wash handbasin set in limestone. There are dull marks - how do I get it back shiney?

the dull marks are probably from abrasive cleaners used to clean the porcelain sink. Also the limestone lining the shower room is becoming dull due to the hard water in my area - any suggestions, other than grinding, of cleaners I can use to restore the shine? more

I know that one of the common early symptoms of pregnancy can be sore breasts but what does this actually feel like? Sore as in feeling as though they have been rubbed by an abrasive material? Resolved Question: Advice about work and how I can change how I am treated?

About 4 years ago, I was working for a company and being bullied by a woman. She was a little more senior than me and would tell me to undertake a particular task. After I did the task she would then ask me why I had done what she had previously told me to do an hour earlier. This went on for some time and eventually I told the Manager as she was acting quite Machievelian. He believed her despite the fact that I had proof and I was sacked. I went to an employment tribunal and won the case, then she was sacked, but I never went back to the company. I then took a casual job driving for a hire company - [ I'm a mature student] and more or less the same thing happened. I would be told to do something and after doing it I was told off. I was working with this particular man who seemed to take offence to the fact that I was a law student. He would sarcastically say "why is lawyer working as a driver" knowing full well that I was just a student and not a lawyer [I had never told him I was studying Law. My boss did]. I left the job as the bullying got so bad. Yesterday I took some casual Xmas work for one day. It involved serving catered food to a rich family. I worked really hard even meeting up with the man who had advertised the job [not the family!] at 1.00pm at his whim even though the job did not start until 5.30pm. During the time there I was working hard, taking no breaks and the man who advertised the job [not the family catered for] would tell me to wash up, then within a second start bullying me and ask me to clear the plates. As I was doing that he would then tell me off and demand I do something else.Not once did he have a problem with my standard of work as he said so but he just seemed to relish brow beating me.The strange thing is that after he started bullying me the younger worker joined in. It was awful. At one point I simply felt like leaving and letting them find their own ways home - 40 miles away - but my car was hemmed in by other people at the house of the rich people. I am not a weak woman and do not come across as vulnerable so I have never understood why this happens. I am not weak but I am not bullish. I do not argue with people nor am I ever abrasive. I do the job that is asked of me and more. I also try to be as friendly as I can but not overly friendly or a gossip. I just try to be professional really. In the end I had enough and asked him to stop bullying me. I explained that I had taken the job for myself but alsoto help him out, (even driving to London when my car was not working) as I did not want to let him down. He needed transportation as did the other worker. The whole thing admittedly is getting me down. If I was a slacker and spent my time chatting at work or taking long breaks I could understand this. It is beginning to knock my confidence and I almost dread applying for jobs now. I just do not know how to handle things. People have never said that my attitude is bad or that my work is bad. When I am getting bullied, I tend to go into myself and go very quiet but this makes no difference to the person bullying me. more

I live in what appears to be a very damp (rented) flat. I've been using Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes for about 5 years, but I've noticed inthe last two packs I bought that they've changed the materials they use for making the wipes. They're really abrasive, and I can't use them anymore for taking off my eye make-up as it really hurts. Can someone recommend some other good, inexpensive wipes that are soft to use? Ideally less than £3, and obviously I'm looking for UK answers only. Also, I've tried Garnier and they make my skin greasy, and I'm allergic to either neutrogena or Nivea (can't remember which, and am too scared to try one or the other to find out, as I come up in blotches!)Amyee, those are exactly the same ones as I just bought too! Resolved Question: Masking tape residue after nightmare DIY painting job --PLEASE HELP

Hello I am finally at the end of a nightmare DIY job painting an outside door with gloss and to cut a long story short its been a right pain the back side and I am on my fourth coat . The masking tape I put around the small windows was on a lot longer than expected ( around 4 months ) and now that Ive started to take it off it is sticking to the glass and not peeling off and is leaving horrible baked on glue residue . I have a Ford Fiesta 2003. I am having trouble touching the paintwork up. The problem is not the paint. It`s the laquer. It`s drys so fast I cannot get an even finish. Would there be a way to use a fine abrasive maybe to get a better result.Could I maybe thin it a bit to slow the drying time down. Resolved Question: removing scouring pad scratches from car surface?

I've been a bit of a clot and used what I thought was a non-abrasive scouring pad on the lower parts of my car to remove stubborn road tar spots - unfortuantely it's not until the car's dried that I've realised it WASN'T non-abrasive and of course it's leave nice swirly scratchmarks on the car surface. Are there any car cleaning/polishing products which will cover these up or at least disguise them as far as possible - thanks more

In a question I asked Yesterday, I asked What is Metta?, and Pangel's answer had the suggestion of making Mondays, Metta Mondays a Day for all users of R&S if not all sections to think a bit more about how they answer and instead of (as some do) being abrasive or otherwise unkind to be nicer, to each other as fellow beings and fellow users of R&S. However, it's the actual relentless choking down of strong beverages which I can't seem to get to grips with. I was a bit liberal with T-cut wax on one of the panels of my car. Has this done any damage to the paintwork? T-cut wax is supposed to be safe to use on metallic paint but I unfortunately put too much on and it contains mild abrasives.There is a T-cut product called T-cut wax which contains both T-cut and wax to make it easier to apply and rub off. more
